True books versus dues-only. Platforms that can separate operating and reserve funds, produce board-ready reports, and survive a CPA’s questions.
Many HOA products collect dues well and call that accounting. A dues ledger is not the same as association books.
True books usually means a general ledger, fund accounting (operating vs. reserve, at minimum), bank reconciliation, payables, and reports a CPA or reserve specialist can work from. Dues-only tools can still be the right choice for tiny associations — just do not confuse them with a chart of accounts.
